Prime Minister Bids Farewell to Outgoing French Ambassador

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed his thanks to French Ambassador Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh, whose tenure in the country is coming to an end. She paid a courtesy farewell visit to the Prime Minister at Phnom Penh’s Peace Parliament this morning.

The Prime Minister’s personal assistant, Mr. Eang Sophalleth, told reporters after the meeting that the ambassador had been thanked by the Prime Minister for her “excellent cooperation”. During her four-year mission in Cambodia, the ambassador also noted that she had met with the Prime Minister and Cambodian officials at all levels, holding open and honest discussions. She cited this as a key factor in the success of her tenure and the expansion and strengthening of bilateral relations.

She continued that Cambodia is a country of peace, stability, and development, and hailed its progress in the fight against Covid-19, particularly its vaccination drive. She added that the French government, together with the French private sector, would continue to work with Cambodia to contribute to its sustainable and environmentally-friendly development, as well as cooperate with Cambodia in the fields of health, human resource development, culture, and peacekeeping under the umbrella of the United Nations.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the ambassador for her dedicated efforts to fulfill the diplomatic mission to strengthen and expand relations and cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister also thanked the French government for helping Cambodia in the fight against Covid-19, in which the Institut Pasteur has played a critical role. He also informed the ambassador that Cambodia's strategy is to provide vaccines to all people living in the kingdom.
